For Maya’s Notebook – this is Maya.
What is your Hero’s Goal?
A goal is something your hero wants – usually something he
wants to get or achieve
For a goal to matter something must be at stake.
The goal must be terminal but your hero does not need to
achieve his or her goal
Casablanca – Rick wants to marry Isla but in the ned sends
her away
Chinatown – Jakes goal is to save Evelyn Mulwray, but in the
end he inadvertently causes her death.
What’s your Hook?
A hook is what is fun, intriguing and juicy about the
story. Its why the audience is
going to read the story.
The Hook is not just plot summary.
Why is the audience going to want to read the book? – That
is your Hook
